Sunny Days...

We are doing WHAT?!?
The past two weeks have been like an Indian summer here in Stuttgart, so I have been soaking up the sun like a squirrel collecting acorns for the winter.  Today’s bright shiny day (with our guests) was in the German Schwaebisch Albs where the foliage is colorful and the mountains are snow free.  But even without snow and skis we enjoyed some big mountain fun.

First stop on our “Alb agenda”; a 1.3-kilometer-long steel bobsled run, Sommerbobbahn Erpfingen.  There seemed to be a big discussion as Jason presented all four of our guests with their tickets.  As he was convincing them that they had to try out this track with all of its steep curves, I think they began to question just how much “fun” this outing with the Hoff family was going to be today.

Go fast Pops!

Where did they say the brakes were on this?

Almost to the top....
Fun and Fast!

I don't think Pops understood the sign saying, "slow down"

um...you may have gone a tad to slow...

After testing out the track, we took them to a more peaceful spot, Schloss Lichenstein, which would get their heart racing in a different way.  The kids played on the sprawling playground; the grans/uncles toured the castle grounds, while Jason and I soaked in enough sun to last us thru the winter.  (ok, maybe just the first week of winter which supposedly will be here in a week or so…)  The Castle tour time came and I decided to be the nice “DIL” (daughter-in-law) and joined them on the tour to translate attempt to translate all the wonderful history as the German tour guide explained.

As the tour finished I was pretty sure that my translations had left them a little unsure of what had just transpired on the tour, but I knew the perfect place to tour where no translation was needed.  Next stop, Hotel Adler’s restaurant for some of the best local food.

The days just don’t get much better than this one..sun or not!
