Sensational Sunday

Wow...to sleep late on a Sunday is unheard of in the house.  But here in Germany, we are in the middle of what is called, "short days of winter" which allows for long sleep on weekends.  The sun comes up around 8:15 in the morning and is back down around 4:30 (or that would be 16:30 here) After Jason made some strong coffee, I headed out for my new workout regime.....Walking Rocky in the Forest wearing heavy snow boots and climbing the mountain in the thick snow.  Talk about an invigorating workout.  Today a German lady and her Saint Bernard joined us, so Rocky also got a great workout.  (So did my brain since she only spoke German)  It is amazing how many people Rocky has introduced us to since we moved:)

This afternoon, we headed up to Ludwigsburg for the Christmas Market in that town.  I must say, seeing and experiencing Europe thru a child's eyes is very charming.  Don't get me wrong, I have always loved Europe and thought it had a special charm, even when I traveled here on business.  But it is a completely different experience living here and especially having children show you things you never noticed.  Today was another day I experienced this with Karina and Cooper.  They truly live' in the moment' everywhere we go and take notice of all the little things.  At the Christmas market today, they would point out all of the pretty things one may tend not to notice.  I hope this is a gift they will continue to have, it is so easy for us grownups to get caught up in life.  Their lesson to me today, "Don't  forget to stop and "smell the roses" or play on a playground when walking back to the car.  (I never would have even noticed the playground across from the castle!)

The kids love the crepes at the Christmas markets
Crepes being made..
Crepes and Waffles being eaten!

Currywurst (gone) brotchen and mug of gluhwein (all vineyards have different mug)

Angel is watching all of the Christmas cookies

all the little "smoking" Christmas ornaments (they have incense under their tummy)

All the markets have homemade ornaments

Most amazing "sculptures" around Germany.  this is a HUGE snake hanging from a pole in the middle of the street

Ludwigsburg Castle

Gorgeous tree in front of castle

They spotted a playground on walk back to car

Most amazing playgrounds here in Germany -all are different and 'handmade'
